I reformatted a few of my poems into separate posts to make them more reader friendly.

Home again, Home again... Jiggety Jig...

Had an impromptu meal with a couple of good friends and their family after returning home from UCET this evening. Homemade taquitos... delish! (Made from fabulous BB goodies. Thanks for the invite A & J! Good company... Good food... and best of all.... I didn't have to cook when I got home. :-)


I will be happy when the travel slows down a bit. 

On the road....... again.......

It seems that I have done nothing but travel the last little while. North. South. East. West. You name it, I've gone that direction recently. This weekend I am in Sandy at the UCET (Utah Coalition for Educational Technology) conference. The hosting school is Jordan High School.

I'm learning about lots of new technology that can be used in education. Still... as much as I enjoy learning about using technology in schools, I can't help but think that I will be glad when I'm not such a "travelin' fool"....

Oh the places you'll go...

So, today is Theodor S. Giesel's birthday... also known as Dr. Seuss. As most elementary teachers will tell you, Dr. Seuss is a very popular guy... at least to those under 5 feet high. (LOL). As a school we had Green Eggs and Ham for breakfast. (What else?!? LOL) Each class also had a Dr. Seuss cake made by our wonderful lunch workers.
I love so many of Dr. Seuss's books - some for their sheer silliness, and some for their timely lessons. I went around to each of the classes today and read one of my favorites - "Oh, the Places You'll Go!"


"And will you succeed?

It always reminds me that anything is possible.


Today was also a day that we as a school were able to honor our former Principal. Things were rushed so much in December, that we didn't feel as though we were able to give him the send off we would have liked to. We asked him to come and be our guest reader for our Dr. Seuss day assembly. He read "The Sneetches," which is his favorite Dr. Seuss book - and for good reason. It teaches us all that we need to look beyond appearances and accept each other for who we are inside. We surprised him with a couple of his favorite books - signed by staff members, a throw, and a couple of other things that we felt would show him how much he meant to us. His wife and daughter were there as well, and we gave his wife a little gift as well, to thank her for all she did to support him while he was our Principal. I wrote a little poem and we gave it to him, as well. I think he was touched by what we had done. I hope he knows how much we all appreciated what he did for us.

I'll go inside someday...

I had planned to attend the Temple when I was in St. George, unfortunately it was closed for cleaning. Still, it was a beautiful day, so I walked around and took a few shots. What a testament to pioneer craftmanship!

What you can't see very well in the above photo is a little family sitting on the top of the left staircase. As I walked passed by them I discovered they were praying. I quickly passed by, not wanting to intrude on their special moment. It touched my heart, and I thought what better way to teach the importance of the Temple. It brings the primary song to life. "I love to see the Temple, I'm going there someday, to feel the Holy Spirit, to listen, and to pray..."

 I loved the detail of the beehive on the stairs.

 A sign that Spring really is just around the corner.

Hopefully, next time I am in St. George I'll have the chance "to go inside someday, to covenant with my Father, to promise to obey."
